On Monday, October 25, 2021 Patrick Joseph Babin, a resident of Houston, TX and father of three adult children, passed away at age 66. Pat was born on September 19, 1955, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Dudley and Eva (LaPointe) Babin. He served in the United States Army from 1972 through 1974 when he was honorably discharged from service. On December 25, 1973, his first and only son, Patrick J. Valliere, Sr., was born. Pat later moved to Houston, Texas where he met and married his wife Jocelyn Branch Babin and raised their two daughters, Netra Babin and Keshia (Babin) Rodriguez. After completing his military service, Pat lived and worked in Houston, Texas for the remainder of his life. He consistently worked at for various chemical and construction companies and was also known to have many side businesses ongoing at any given moment. In the 1980’s, Pat and his wife Jocelyn owned and operated a local bar named "P&J’s Lounge" located in the Third Ward community of Houston, Texas. He also had a passion for caring for his dogs, barbequing, cooking flavorful soul food, playing pool, and buying and selling cars. Pat was well-known for his quick wit, entrepreneurial endeavors, and his ambitious nature. Pat is preceded in death by his parents Dudley and Eva Babin, and his siblings Mary "Mae-Mae" Decuir Pettit, Catherine "Cat" Provost, and Daniel "Sonny" Babin, Sr. He is survived by his wife Jocelyn Babin; two daughters and one son-in-law, Netra Babin and Keshia and Jesse Rodriguez; one son, Patrick J. Valliere, Sr.; five grandchildren Cheronesia Valliere, Shainesia Valliere, Patrick J. Valliere, Jr., Jessi Renee Rodriguez, and Sydney Rodriguez; six siblings Teresa Ettienne, Cora Hill, Geneva Jackson, Maggie Hulin, Dudley "June" Babin, Jr. and James Babin, Sr.; and his special friend Charlotte Morgan, including Ms. Morgan’s 3 children and 7 grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Pat’s life will be held on Thursday, November 11th, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Morales Funeral Home located at 2901 Canal Street, Houston, Texas 77003. Visitation will be open from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life and Military Honors segments to follow from 2pm to 3pm. The family requests that no flowers be sent for the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Workshop Houston, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in honor of Patrick Joseph Babin. Workshop Houston provides youth in the 3rd Ward Houston, TX community with creative, technical and educational resources in the arts. Over the last few years, Pat worked closely with this organization and helped to transport area youth from their local school to the Workshop Houston Center for enrichment courses. Coincidentally, the Workshop Houston Center is located at the same address as the local bar (P&J’s Lounge) that Pat previously owned and operated.
