    Jesse D. Macias Jr.

    October 30, 1938 - February 16, 2022

    Jesse D. Macias, Jr., passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was 83 years old. Jesse was born on October 30, 1938, in Houston, Texas, to Guadalupe Diaz and Jesse S. Macias, Sr. A jack of all trades, he served in the U.S. Army after high school, then was employed in the service delivery industry for numerous years. Jesse spent about 10 years as a chef for the Rice Hotel before working as an automotive and diesel mechanic. His last employment was as a maintenance supervisor at Wesley Square Apartments. Upon retiring, he spent years remodeling and repairing houses. Jesse was an avid fisherman and enjoyed dancing, cooking and shooting pool (billiards) and playing in pool tournaments. He loved watching his westerns and enjoyed both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Jesse is preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Diaz; his father, Jesse S. Macias, Sr.; his stepmother, Yolanda Lerma; his brothers, Joseph "Jose" Macias and Gilbert Macias; and his sister, Yolanda Heiney. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia A. Macias; his daughter, Monica (Mark) Swinhoe, of Houston; his son, Jesse (Corina) Macias, III, of Pasadena, Texas; his grandsons, Nathaniel D. Macias and Gabriel R. Macias, both of Pasadena, Texas; his granddaughter, Mia C. Macias, of Pasadena, Texas; his brothers, Isabel "Chepo" Macias of Spring, Texas; Miguel Macias, Roland Macias and Hector Macias, all of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Adela (Ralph) Charles, Irene Macias and Aurora Gonzales, all of Houston, Texas; his dog "Ziva" who followed him around like a shadow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jesse's kind and bright spirit will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. Visitation will be held Monday, February 21, 2022, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Felix H. Morales Funeral Home, Houston, Texas. A Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. Cremation will take place at a later date. Individuals at increased risk, sick or not feeling well should not attend the service.
