September 2, 1942 - September 15, 2021
Gilbert P. Munguia, age 79 of Houston entered into eternal rest on September 15, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1942 to Jose and Maria Munguia in Pleak, Texas. Gilbert married the love of his life Betty Jean Galvan on October 5, 1962. They created a wonderful life with their four children in Denver Harbor. Gilbert retired after 32 years of service as an Assembly Welder for Petrolite Petreco Co. Gilbert loved being outdoors, fishing, in his garden planting his famous tomatoes, turning on the BBQ pit, or working in his garage. He had every tool you can think of and if you borrowed it you better put it where it came from. He knew where they all belonged. He loved his Houston sports teams, and watched them from his favorite spot on the couch with his Cody on the lap. Country music and western movies; especially John Wayne was always playing around the house. When he went out on the town he was a sharp dresser, with his hat, starched jeans and pair of cowboy boots. Or a crisp Houston Sports Jersey. Gilbert was a smooth dancer. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and the ladies of the family. Gilbert loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He admired their accomplishments, loved to hear what they had to say. One not to brag, Gilbert beamed with pride. He enjoyed having his knuckleheads running around. They had a special place in his heart. We will miss him very much, he was the best Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He is now free. We love you. Gilbert is preceded in death by his Parents, Jose and Maria Munguia, Brothers, Jesse, Candelario (Candy) and Anastacio (Ernest) Munguia, Grandson, Brian Jeremy Munguia and Grandson, Tristan Munguia. He is survived by his Wife, Betty Munguia; Two Brothers, Gable Munguia (Jimmy), Joe Munguia; Daughter, Barbara Molina; Three Sons, Gilbert Munguia Jr. and Wife Irene, Rodney Munguia and Companion Trisha, Chris Munguia and Wife Georgette; Six Granddaughters, Laura Molina and Husband Robert, Ashley Morales and Husband Jonathan, Desiree Blanco, Miranda Romero and Husband Jacob, Lola Munguia, Gabby Munguia; Five Grandsons, Gabriel Munguia and Wife Erika, Max Gilbert Munguia and Fiance Cari, Aaron Molina and Fiance Crystal, Christian Munguia, Jonathan Munguia; Seven Great-grandsons, Anthony Garcia, Adrian Garcia, Angel Garcia, Jonah Munguia, Nathan Gilbert, Aiden Valdes, Joshua Savage; Five Great-granddaughters, Angelina Morales, Aviana Morales, Mia Munguia, Maggie Munguia, Chrisley Evans.
