    Elvira G. Garcia

    August 10, 1931 - May 21, 2021

Elvira Garcia Cavazos, born on August 10, 1931 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, was called home on Friday May 21, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sofia Prieto and Jesus Cavazos, her beloved husband, Antero Garcia Almaguer and son, Jose Antero Garcia. She is survived by two siblings, Alicia Cavazos Estrada and Pedro Pablo Cavazos Prieto, her children and spouses: Jose Antero's spouse Victoria Garcia, Jesus Garcia, Maria Castillo, Oralia Lopez and spouse Joel Lopez, and Robert Garcia, 10 grandchildren: Claudia, Jose, Carlos, Cynthia, Brenda, Jesus, Kevin, Jenafer, Joel, and Alexis, and 12 great-grandchildren. A homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, she was full of love and happiness. She married her husband, Antero Garcia Almaguer on February 14, 1953 and started a family soon after. Leaving Mexico to start a home in Houston, she chose to make family her priority. At the center of a beautiful family, she never failed to make everyone feel at home the minute they walked through the door. A devout Catholic, she loved going to church and lived her life as a woman of God. She loved cooking, sewing, and caring for her family. Her strength lied in her heart and soul which you could feel through her touch and taste through her home cooked food. No one ever left her house hungry! If you didn't have a second plate you simply weren't done eating yet. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful woman. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts and that is a true testament to the incredible life she led. She will be deeply missed. Her family would like to express our gratitude for the love and kindness everyone has shared with us during this difficult time. "You have carried me in your heart all these years, now I'll always carry you in mine." Visitation will be held Monday May 31, 2021 at the Felix H. Morales Funeral Home (2901 Canal St. Houston, Texas, 77003) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church (1920 Marion St. Houston, Texas, 77009) at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Hollywood Cemetery (3506 N Main St. Houston, Texas, 77009). For the safety of all guests, gatherings at our facility will be limited to 80 family members and guests.
