Dora G. Martinez, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2021, in Spring, Texas. Dora was born in Snook, Texas on January 13, 1929 to parents Benito and Rafaela M. Garza. Dora was a homemaker most of her life, caring for her husband Fred, and children as they grew up. Once her children were older, she later worked and retired as a Retail Associate from Montgomery Ward in Pasadena, Texas. Dora loved her husband of 48 years, Fernando (Fred) V. Martinez, who passed in June 2007. Fred began writing letters to Dora, as he knew a relative of hers. The letter writing went on before meeting in person or seeing pictures of each other. By this time, even though Dora had moved to Houston, she would come home to visit her family in Snook. Dances were held on the campus of Texas A & M in College Station, at the time an all-male military school, from where Fred graduated. Ever since she and Fred met, Dora came to love her Aggies and was much involved in the Texas A&M Mother’s Club. The rest is really history; their love story will now continue forever in the Heavens. Dora is survived by the family she loved; her children, son Fernando G. Martinez and wife Kathy of New Braunfels, Texas and their son, Scott Martinez of Leander, Texas; daughter Karen M. Solano and sons, Javier “Javi” Solano Jr, and Gabriel Solano, all of Spring, Texas; and son, Edward “Eddie” A. Martinez of Littleton, Colorado; sister, Alice Woleben and husband Jerry of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Dora is preceded in death by her husband, Fernando V. Martinez of Pasadena, Texas; parents Benito and Rafaela M. Garza of Houston, Texas and brother Arturo Garza of Houston, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 8 from 4-8 pm, with a rosary at 7pm; Service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9 at Felix Morales Funeral Home at 10:00 am with burial following at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. Both visitation and service will be live streamed, via a link off obituary. Anyone who knew Dora, knew she LOVED Texas A & M; it’s where she met the love of her life.
