Cervando "Sam" Lopez, was born on October 16, 1949 in Harlingen, Texas. Cervando went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 1, 2022. He resided in Houston, Texas and is survived by his loving Wife, Dolores Lopez; Daughter, Marcy Atkinson, and husband Henry Atkinson; Grandson, Noah Ryan Atkinson; Sisters, Lydia Hinojosa and husband Porfirio Hinojosa, Norma O. Dominguez and husband Richard Dominguez, Irma Lopez and spouse Alice Torres; Brother, Sergio Lopez and wife Dorothy Lopez; and many loving Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and friends. Cervando served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. During his time in the Army, Cervando was the recipient of many Medals and Commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Overseas Service Bars and Bronze Star Medal. Cervando was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He loved his grandson Noah with all of his heart. He enjoyed sitting out-doors, barbecuing, listening to Tejano music and telling the best jokes, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Cervando brought joy and happiness to everyone that knew him. All who knew him, loved him dearly and will never forget his tenacity, wit, charm and undying love and caring for them. We take solace in knowing that Cervando is in heaven, free from pain and walking on streets of gold, hand in hand with our savior, Jesus Christ. Cervando is preceded in death by Cecilio Lopez Sr. (Father), Felipa Coronado Lopez (Mother), Cecilio Coronado Lopez Jr. (Brother), Miguel Alcasio Lopez (Brother) Irma Lopez (Sister), Miguel Lopez (Brother), Felipe Lopez (Brother), Isabel Lopez Roney (Sister), Julio Cesar Lopez (Brother), Cecil Lopez III (Nephew), Mike Bert Jones (Nephew), Mona Lopez Salmeron (Niece). Visitation for Cervando will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022, 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm with Services at 6:00pm at Felix H. Morales Funeral Home, 2901 Canal Street, Houston, Texas, 77003. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:30 am at Felix H. Morales Funeral Home, 2901 Canal Street, Houston, Texas, 77003. Burial will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:15 pm. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77038.
